Words are a passion of mine. All words. But for some reason, peculiar stands out to me the most. The definition of the word is the meaning of the word, and I find that to be extremely interesting. Especially since it also describes me so perfectly.
I’m a writer, studying Literature at UCSB CCS, and because of this I thought it was the perfect choice for a tattoo.
It’s a single word that can describe who I am in my entirety, while have a lot more meaning behind it. Life is peculiar. Love is peculiar. There isn’t a single thing in the world that isn’t peculiar in one way or another.
Even the spelling of the word peculiar is peculiar.I chose the font for a similar reason. That being that I’m a writer, but also because I have a fascination with typewriters. I’m a sucker for antiques. I’m a sucker for what used to be. I love modern technology, but I find something so precious about the past.
At the moment, I plan on having only words for tattoos. It may change sometime in the future, but for now that’s what I’m feeling.

I chose the flying key image from Book 1 because I have a lock as part of one of the pieces on my side. Also I wanted to have the deathly hallows symbol incorporated as well. I got this done as a walk in at Chameleon Tattoo in Cambridge, MA although I’d been there a few times before. My artist was Sky and he is super great- works fast and is fun to talk to. This is my fourth, and by far my favorite tattoo! Can’t wait to get more.
